- “Artisan tea is the ‘Fine Wine’ of the tea world. To truly appreciate a Luwis Handmade selection, we recommend brewing it in a glass or porcelain teapot where you can watch the hand-rolled leaves slowly unfurl—a process known as the ‘Agony of the Leaves.'”
The Pillars of Luwis Craftsmanship
- The Hand-Plucking Tradition
Unlike mechanical harvesting which can bruise the leaves and include stems, Luwis artisan teas are hand-picked by skilled pluckers.
They select only the “Golden Bud” or the “Two Leaves and a Bud” at the precise moment of maturity.
This selectivity ensures that the natural essential oils and delicate polyphenols remain intact, leading to a superior flavor profile.
- Small-Batch Processing
The “Handmade” label means these teas are processed in small, controlled batches. This allows the tea master to adjust the withering and rolling process based on the humidity and temperature of that specific day.
Manual Rolling: The leaves are often rolled by hand to achieve specific shapes (like curls or pearls), which allows the flavor to release slowly over multiple infusions.
Natural Withering: The leaves are allowed to wither naturally in the cool mountain air, developing a depth of character that rapid mechanical drying simply cannot replicate.
- Single-Estate Purity Luwis Artisan teas are strictly Single-Estate. This means every leaf in your tin comes from one specific garden, at one specific elevatioThere are no blends from different regions.
